freedom and democracy, and it struggles to understand how anyone would choose the latter over the former.

So Beijing finds itself bound by ¿ë´ÞÀÌ»ç¾÷ü
a sense of historical destiny to a territory with which it is - in large part - in deep ideological opposition.
